This rafting tour has a 6-person minimum as it is often private per booking party. For smaller groups, we recommend our hallmark trip — the Spencer Glacier Float.
Season: Portage Creek Float operates from mid-May to late September, dependent on winter break-up & water levels. Call or email us to confirm mid-May or late September availability.
Tour Details
- Minimum of 6 Guests required to book. You have the option of purchasing empty seats to make the tour happen with fewer than six people. Please contact our office directly at 907-783-1860 before booking if you’d like to book with less than six guests.
- Flexible Departure Times: 9:00 AM or 5:00 PM are normal start times with some flexibility. Call or email us to customize your raft departure time.
- Rubber boots, rain ponchos, and personal flotation devices/life jackets are provided.
- Portage Creek is a Class I mellow scenic float with no big rapids.

- 9:00 AM – Morning Departure (AWCC Add-On available for morning departures)
- 5:00 PM – Evening Departure
Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center Add-On for Morning Departures ($100 per person):
- Wildlife is Guaranteed on the AWCC Tour! (We have seen Moose, Black Bears, Wolves, Coyote & Porcupine on Portage River, but cannot guarantee a sighting in the wild.)
- Musk Oxen, Moose, Caribou, Wood Bison, Black Bear, Brown Bear, Porcupine & Many More at AWCC.
- One of the best Gift Shops in Alaska resides at AWCC.
- Catered Sack Lunch Provided (Sandwich/Wrap, Fruit, Chips, and Dessert). If you are vegetarian, gluten-free, or have any other dietary restrictions, please let us know ahead of time.
- Children — If you have young children, please let us know so we can provide car seats or a special meal/sandwich.

Cancellations made 10 days or more in advance are 90% refundable. Cancellations within 10 days are nonrefundable.
